Goodyear Auto Service

Other than selling tires online, Goodyear also offers an online appointment scheduling service to their nationally spread auto service centers. Goodyearautoservice.com was a dated platform that required a full re-platform and re-design. Below are a few examples of the kinds of challenges the project faced.

HOMEPAGE

The Challenge:
 
The homepage was one of the most complex pages to design for. The designs needed to take into consideration business requirements as they were defined by multiple client stakeholders, while also considering SEO, marketing, and technological requirements, all the while keeping in mind the end users. The prime real estate of the homepage masthead was sought after by all.    
 
The Solution:
 
A vertical split of the masthead allowed for messaging and interaction with both the seasonal promotion and access to the primary services users were looking to schedule.

Store Selection

The Challenge:
 
Although Goodyear Auto Service centers are located across the US, there are regions that do not hove them close by. Tracking showed on average users are willing to drive about 10 miles to a service store. Once of our greatest challenges was providing users with upfront information on the closest store near their location. In addition, available services and pricing was determined by store. In order to provide service and price info the site needed to get confirmation from users which GAS store they intend on going to.  
 
The Solution:
 
Once users entered the site an IP sniff would detect their approximated geo location. Based on that users were prompted to confirm and select the store they want to go to. the experience on-site needed to balance acquiring information from the users and getting them to select a store, while not interrupting their potential research on site.

Store Detail Page

The Challenge:
 
One of the unique aspects of this project was that it was built on 2 platforms. The Adobe AEM platform (CMS) allowed for flexibility and authoring fo content, while the Hybris platform among other things, allowed for scheduling and pricing. The Store pages needed to be designed as templates that could support constantly changing data. Information was fed to display accurate up-to-date information on each specific store.   
 
The Solution:
 
The Store Detail page design accounted for variations in service offerings, promotional offering, and store information.

Home Installation

The Challenge:
 
For the past couple of years, Goodyear has piloted a new service whereby users who buy online can have their tires delivered and installed at their home or even their workplace. To support this new service we were challenged with integrating it into the appointment flow on Goodyearautoservice.com. This was especially challenging considering only tire installation could be supported, and not the other services GAS stores offered (like oil changes, breaks, etc.)  
 
The Solution:
 
Working through many use cases and accounting for both users' geographic location and the distance a service installer can go, we created a smart design system that guided users through the process providing them with relevant information at each point in the process.
