Project Overview
InsideTracker is a personalized nutrition and wellness platform that leverages cutting-edge science and technology to provide individuals with actionable insights into their body's unique needs. By analyzing blood, physiological and genetic data, InsideTracker offers personalized recommendations for optimizing health, fitness, and overall well-being.

Blood analysis is pivotal for promoting health and wellness as it serves as a comprehensive tool for understanding and optimizing the body's physiological balance. Users' blood analysis provides a snapshot of key biomarker indicators.

This project was a comprehensive overhaul of the user experience for reviewing blood results and analysis through the InsideTracker web and mobile apps.

The Challenge
Blood analysis is at the core of the InsideTracker experience. However, recurring customer feedback pointed to many issues with the solution that was in play both on the web app as well as in the mobile app.
Customer feedback was gathered through multiple channels:

Customer feedback on the mobile app experience:

Results interpretations were ambiguous in various parts of the product experience

Results were not easy to scan, and many navigation issues caused confusion and frustration

Much of the scientific value was hidden and went unnoticed

The interface was not intuitive and often intended interactions were misinterpreted

Viewing the details of the results triggered a feeling of being overwhelmed with information

Accessibility issues made some of the data unapproachable
Customer feedback on the web app experience:

The outdated UI contributed to an overwhelming and challenging experience in parsing through displayed information

Scientific details were obscured behind subtle Call to Actions (CTAs)

The organization of blood biomarkers into unrelated groups made it difficult for users to grasp the underlying takeaways from the results

Page navigation was burdensome, placing a significant onus on users

Legacy backend systems were not synchronized with the details presented in the mobile app

Healthspan Category scores
The introduction of Healthspan Category scores offered a comprehensive analysis of different health aspects through the introduction of Healthspan Category scores.
Unlike exclusively focusing on specific biomarkers, these categories offer a holistic approach, enabling users to focus on overall aspects of their health. They provide a consolidated view of individual blood biomarkers and elucidate the relative impact of each one.
Prioritizing Healthspan Category scores in the design empowers users to make informed decisions and implement targeted actions to enhance their health across diverse dimensions.
The Outcome
Impact on customer satisfaction
Customer reviews and follow-up quantitative research studies pointed to a significant increase in satisfaction with the web and mobile app users' experience.
Impact on InsideTracker Pro's
InsideTracker advocates, also known as * InsideTracker Pros, testified that the impact of the redesign significantly improved their ability to manage their teams. They could now view their team members' recommendations and easily scan their results.
Impact on the company
The introduction of Healthspan Categories laid the groundwork for several high-priority future product features.
* InsideTracker Pros include registered dieticians, fitness trainers, and coaches that manage groups or teams and use InsideTrackers "Coach Dashboard".
